The state of Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN) is the statewide project that now combines the TVRCS and a statewide system of Project 25 Phase II, three frequency sites to form an emergency communications system for the entire State of Tennessee.
The system is using an combination of VHF High Band, 700 MHz, and 800 MHz.
By using the TVRCS as the primary phase one regional backbone, this system also allows for interoperability with multiple local counties and municipalities, as well as agencies in Georgia. Expansions will include other regional systems, as well as the folding in of other large municipal and county trunked radio systems to increase the user buildout and coverage for the system.
TACN will also have the capability of being linked with surrounding state systems for major events and disasters.
Sites listed with an RFSS of 9 are FCC licensed, but need to have their correct information for RFSS, Site #, NAC, and control channels identified.
TVRCS: The Tennessee Valley Regional Communications System covers over a dozen counties in northern Georgia and southeastern Tennessee. Local officials obtained more than $20 million in federal grants to fund the new Project 25 digital radio system. The regional network operates on both the 700MHz and 800MHz radio bands, using ASTRO 7.4 technology. This allows all public safety first responders to intercommunicate with each other, on a common interoperable platform, during local emergencies or widespread disasters. The system has now officially become the backbone for the State of Tennessee's Advanced Communications Network (TACN) statewide TRS.
Construction is being completed in various phases, and the system is currently being utilized by several county and state agencies. Further expansion is expected, and the system is officially now the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN).
